Marc Dumont is adept at working with numerous stakeholders to achieve goals.

Bilingual in English and French, he brings his professional and personable approach to everything he does.

He developed a love for the wilderness and concern with environmental issues through tending the sprawling property of his ancestors in Northern Alberta, with its numerous waterways that influence biodiversity in the area. As a result, he earned his Environmental Monitoring Certificate through the University of Northern British Columbia, attained his certification as a drone pilot and completed his Alberta Trappers’ Association Standard Trappers’ Education Course. Marc is currently working toward his graduation and Beaver Institute Professional Training Certificate of Completion from the Beaver Institute, in order to become a professional beaver control specialist.

Environmental monitoring, wetland restoration and beaver-human conflict mitigation are the culmination of years of experience with land management.

When the impacts of beavers required professional intervention on his property, he was inspired to find a creative solution. This, in turn, led to the next chapter of his career.

He finds tremendous purpose from being able to generate effective measures for property owners, while minimizing the loss of life to beavers and maximizing the health of lakes, rivers and streams.

When Marc becomes a Beaver Institute graduate and joins the Beaver Corps, he will be prepared to do site visits and assessments and introduce creative solutions to landowner issues, including the use of exclusion fencing, flow devices and removal. Through his training, he is also gaining an in-depth insight into beaver behavior and habitat, as well as their roles in nature.

All of this knowledge will help him protect properties while fostering the integrity of watersheds to safeguard land, wildlife and water.
